Well – Along with my new blog, and all my new year’s resolutions for 2011, I am going to try my hardest to post 5 favorite things I’m in love with to share with you each month. I’ve been keeping lists, meaning to do this for – I don’t know, I guess about the last 2-3 years, so I have a bit of a backlog. The beautiful thing about WordPress is that I can actually understand it, and build all my little dream ideas into this blog! (Well, maybe not all at once, but keep checkin g back, and I promise you’ll discover some new (and some old) great stuff that hopefully you’ll love as much as I do!
So to kick off summer – even though it was raining today, and we can’t seem to manage a 70 degree day (yes, I’m whining), here’s my first batch – and if you have some fabulous finds of your own, please leave a comment and share – Enjoy!
SMOOCH: This is one of my all-time favorite products…I use it obsessively. It’s like a party on your lips. Warning… it’s highly addictive, and you might find yourself buying up several tubes and stashing them everywhere so you’re never without! BUXOM LIP GLOSS can be found at Sephora’s, and if you happen to live in Anacortes, you can buy it at Unite. I always like to buy locally when I can, and wherever you happen to live I encourage you to do the same when you can!
ARISE: Nearly every morning I start my day and get my motor running with a double tall mocha from Penguin Coffee in Anacortes. They are just about the friendliest (and funniest when you get to know them) group of caffeine providers out there. I love them. Owner Aaron Howell is a mad musician when he’s not serving up coffee – he and his staff will leave you with a smile on your face and a great cup of joe in your hand. On the corner of Commercial & 22nd.
LAVISH: OK – The Natural Bitch line of products is one of my all-time favs. Their products are natural to the point of being edible (and believe me, you’ll smell so yummy you might just get nibbled on). My very top favorites are the Lady Godiva line and the Vanilla and Citrus Body Butters. I use some combination of them daily, and love knowing that I am not putting anything onto my skin that is full of harsh/cheap (and frequently carcinogenic) chemicals. The fact that they are so high quality, and I like them so much better than the department store brands you pay an arm and a leg for is just a bonus. Oh – and the After Sun & Sport lotion is a miracle worker at keeping mosquitos at bay…with no DEET!
LEARN: I’m always curious about other artists – about what inspires them, how they approach their work, and even their work spaces. I find I always learn something that I can bring to my own work by watching and listening to other artists in other mediums. I love The Artist’s Toolbox!
LAUGH: And last – but definitely not least, one of my top favorite blogs I go to when I need a good laugh – Hyperbole and a Half. I recommend starting with “Expectation vs. Reality” (yeah – it hit home over here) and just try not to laugh!
